[ad. F. gabarre (now spelt gabare), ad. Pr. (also It. and Sp.) gabarra of unknown origin. Some of the forms may come from F. gabarot, -otte, dim. of gabare.]
1. A sailing vessel for inland navigation; a sailing barge, lighter.
