fusidic, a. Biochem.|fjuːˈsɪdɪk| [f. mod.L. Fusid-ium (see def.), f. L. fūs-us spindle + conidium: see -ic.] fusidic acid: a steroid, C31H48O6, with antibiotic properties, orig. isolated from a strain of the fungus Fusidium coccineum and esp. effective against Staphylococcus aureus.
