trimesic, a. Chem.|traɪˈmɛsɪk| [f. tri- 5 + mesitylene + -ic.] In trimesic acid, C6H3(CO2H)3, symmetrical benzene-tricarboxylic acid. (So named by Fittig, 1867, when he obtained it from mesitylenic acid, and found it to be tribasic.)
