Fröbel|ˈfrøːbəl| Also Froebel. The name of F.W.A. Fröbel (1782–1852), German teacher, used attrib. or in the possessive to designate the system of child education introduced by him, or a school following this system. (Cf. kindergarten.) Hence Froeˈbelian a., of or pertaining to his system; as n., an adherent of his system; ˈFroebelism, the system of education introduced by Fröbel.
