triazo- Chem.|traɪˈæzəʊ| [f. tri- 5 c + azo-.] A formative of the names of compounds containing three atoms of nitrogen arranged in a ring, thus {b1}N{btr1}N{bbr1}N.. , as triazobenzene, C6H5N{btr1}N{bbr1}N.. . It has also been used somewhat differently, as in triazoacetic acid, N2{btr1}CH(CO2H).N2{bbr1}{bbr1}CH(CO2H).N2{btr1}CH(CO2H) . Also attrib. as in triazo compounds, triazo derivatives, etc.
