Freudian, a. (n.)|ˈfrɔɪdɪən| [See -ian.] Of or pertaining to Sigmund Freud (1856–1939), Austrian specialist in neurology and founder of psychoanalysis, or his teaching; spec. Freudian censor = censor n. 4; Freudian slip, an unintentional mistake that seems to reveal a subconscious intention. Also n., a follower or adherent of Freud. Hence ˈFreudianism, ˈFreudism, the teaching or system of Freud; a characteristic specimen of this; ˈFreudianly adv., in a Freudian manner.
