‖ franc-archer Fr. Hist.|frɑ̃karʃe| Pl. franc(s-archers. [Fr.; franc free (see frank a.) + archer archer.] One of a body of archers established by Charles VII, one man being equipped by each parish, and exempted from taxes in consideration of his service.
