tranylcypromine Pharm.|ˌtrɑːnaɪlˈsaɪprəmiːn, ˌtræn-| [f. trans-2-phenylcyclopropylamine, the systematic name, f. trans- 9 a + phenyl + cyclo- 2 + propyl + amine.] A monoamine oxidase inhibitor, C9H11N, used in the treatment of severe depression (usu. in the form of the sulphate).
