1. Eccl. Belonging to the recession or retirement of the clergy and choir from the chancel to the vestry at the close of the service; esp. recessional hymn, a hymn sung while this retirement is taking place.

3. recessional moraine (Geol.), a form of moraine which is deposited during a temporary halt or minor readvance of a receding glacier or ice sheet, similar in appearance to a terminal moraine.
