1889Cent. Dict. s.v., The forficulate palpi of certain scorpions. ▪ II. forficulate, v. nonce-wd.|fɔːˈfɪkəleɪt| [f. mod.L. forficul-a (see prec.) + -ate3.] intr. To have a ‘creeping’ sensation, as if a forficula or earwig were crawling over one's skin.
