flemingin Chem.|flɛˈmɪndʒɪn| [f. mod.L. Fleming-ia, a genus of plants, f. the name of John Fleming (1747–1829), British physician and botanist + -in1.] A crystalline compound, C12H12O3, obtained from Flemingia (= Moghania) congesta and used esp. as a yellow dye for silk.
