flavanthrone Chem.|fleɪˈvæn-, ˈfleɪvænθrəʊn| Also -ene. [flavanthrene ad. G. flavanthren, f. flavo- + anthra- + -ene; flavanthrone f. flavanthrene after anthrone (see -one).] An anthraquinone derivative, C28H12N2O2, isolated as yellowish brown needles and used as a yellow vat dye.
