‖ ˈtolpatch Also tolpatz. [Ger. tolpatsch, earlier tolpatz: according to Kluyver (Beitr. XXX. 211), Magyar talpas foot-soldier, f. talp sole of the foot.] A foot-soldier. Hence ˈtolpatchery (nonce-wd.), infantry.
