1929A. S. Eakle in Amer. Mineralogist XIV. 427 The new borate..occurs as one of the minerals of the kernite deposit in the Kramer District, Kern County, California, and the name ‘probertite’ is proposed for the mineral, in honor of Frank H. Probert, Dean of the Mining College, University of California, to whom the writer is indebted for specimens, photos and notes of its occurrence. 1949Amer. Mineralogist XXXIV. 19 Probertite..is monoclinic, has a radiating prismatic habit, perfect (110) cleavage and specific gravity of 2·141. 1964Nies & Campbell in R. M. Adams Boron, Metallo-boron Compounds & Boranes iii. 93 Hot concentrated borax liquors can be prepared in which the calcium content frequently is manyfold its equilibrium value, and when it finally deposits from these hot solutions it is usually in the form of probertite, NaCaB5O9·5H2O. |
