‖ fine champagne|fin ʃɑ̃paɲ| [Fr., = eau-de-vie fine de la Champagne ‘fine brandy of the Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne vineyards’ (of the department of Charente).] Old liqueur brandy (from the vineyards mentioned above). Also abbreviated fine (de la) maison, old brandy ‘of the house’; so fine, (French) brandy.
