thugged out, a. U.S. slang (esp. in African-American usage). Brit. |ˈθʌgd ˌaʊt|, U.S. |ˈθəgd ˌaʊt| [‹ thug n. + -ed suffix2 + out adv. (compare sense 13 s.v.), after participial formations such as freaked-out adj. at freak v. 3, weirded out adj., chilled out (see chill v. 4a), etc.] Resembling a thug in dress or behaviour, tough-looking. In extended use, as a term of approval: tough, hardened, or dispassionate. Used esp. in reference to an aggressive style of hip-hop music and the subculture associated with it; cf. gangsta n. and adj.
