Thiersch Surg.|tiːəʃ| The name of Karl Thiersch (1822–95), German surgeon, used attrib. and formerly in the possessive with reference to a split-skin graft including only superficial layers, so that regeneration of the donor area can occur (described by him in Verhandl. d. Deutsch. Ges. f. Chir. (1874) III. 69).
