Theophrastian, a.|θiːəʊˈfræstɪən| Also -an, -ean. [f. L. Theophrastus, a. Gr. θεόϕραστος, a Greek philosopher of Eresus in Lesbos (4th c. b.c.) + -ian.] Of, pertaining to, or characteristic of Theophrastus or his writings, esp. his Characters, a set of thirty sketches on disagreeable aspects of human behaviour.
