[a. Fr. euphotide, f. Gr. εὐ- (see eu-) + ϕῶς, ϕωτ-ός light.]
‘A crystalline rock consisting essentially of Labrador felspar and diallage, with subordinate intermixtures of hornblende and augite’ (Page). Called also gabbro, q.v. Also attrib.
