eucomis Bot.|juːˈkəʊmɪs| [mod.L. (C. L. L'Héritier Sertum Anglicum (1788) 17), ad. Gr. εὐκόµης fair-haired, beautiful-headed, f. εὐ- (see eu-) + κόµη hair.] A plant of the liliaceous genus so named, comprising certain bulbous plants native to southern and tropical Africa, having a crown of large leaves on the flower-spike.
