tetracosactrin Pharm.|ˌtɛtrəkɒˈsæktrɪn| [f. tetra- + icos- + adrenocorticotrophin.] A synthetic polypeptide (see quot. 1967) which resembles corticotrophin in its action and uses but lacks its antigenic property, and is given (as the acetate) by injection in the long-term treatment of inflammatory and degenerative disorders.
