‖ erh hu|ɜː huː| Also ellhwu, erh-hu, erhu. [Chinese èrhú, f. èr two + hú foreign; cf. huqin a generic term for a bowed stringed instrument.] A Chinese two-stringed fiddle (see quots. 1975).
