ˈtempest-ˌtossed, -ˌtost, a. (-tɒst, poet. -ˌtɒsɪd; also -tɔː-) Tossed by or as by a tempest. Hence ˈtempest-ˌtoss v. trans. and intr., to toss or pitch about as a tempest or a tempestuous sea; to agitate or be agitated violently; ˈtempest-ˌtossing, violent agitation by or as by a tempest, etc.
