‖ temenos Gr. Antiq.|ˈtɛmənɒs| [a. Gr. τέµενος, f. τεµ-, stem of τέµν-ειν to cut off, sever.] A piece of ground surrounding or adjacent to a temple; a sacred enclosure or precinct.
