telharmonium|ˌtɛlhɑːˈməʊnɪəm| [f. tele- + harmonium.] An electrophonic instrument, invented by the American scientist Thaddeus Cahill (1867–1934) and designed to produce tones for transmission over telephone wires by means of rotating electro-magnetic generators.
