ephelis Med.|ɛˈfiːlɪs| Pl. ephelides |ɛˈfiːlɪdiːz|. [a. L. ephēlis, f. Gr. ἔϕηλις (or ἐϕηλίς), in pl. rough spots on the face, or perh. freckles.] A freckle; also collect. for various kinds of skin discoloration.
1756J. Greive tr. Celsus' Of Medicine vi. v. 327 It is almost a folly to cure vari, lenticulæ and ephelides; but 'tis impossible to prevent women from being nice in what regards their beauty.
