trans. To cause (a person) to adapt himself to prison life. Chiefly in pass.: to adapt to the attitudes and social behaviour of prison life, esp. at the expense of one's ‘normal’ personality. Hence ˌprisoniˈzation, the fact or process of becoming adapted to prison life and unfitted for the outside world.
