tangeite Min.|ˈtæŋgeɪaɪt| [ad. Russ. tangeít (A. Fersman 1925, in Priroda No. 7–9. 239), f. the name of the Tange Gorge, Tyuya-Muyun, Fergana, central Asia: see -ite1.] An orthorhombic basic vanadate of copper and calcium, CuCa(VO4)(OH), that is a secondary mineral found as green or greenish yellow crystals; calciovolborthite.
1927Mineral. Abstr. III. 234 For the crystalline varieties the name tangeite, from the Tange gorge, is proposed, and for the colloidal variety the term ‘Turkestan volborthite’ is retained. 1951C.
