tamboti(e S. Afr.|tæmˈbuːtɪ| Also tamboetie, tambootie, etc. [ad. Xhosa um-Thombothi.] 1. A deciduous tree, Spirostachys africana, of the family Euphorbiaceæ, native to southern Africa and with dark, rough bark and short spikes of tiny flowers. Freq. attrib.
