† ˈemmele Mus. Obs. rare—1. [ad. Gr. ἐµµελής, f. ἐν in + µέλος melody. (Boethius divides musical progressions into ἐµµελεῖς, those which can form part of a melody, and ἐκµελεῖς those which cannot.)] A term applied in the old Theory of Harmony to the imperfect concords.
