emetic, a. and n.|ɪˈmɛtɪk| Also 7–8 emetick, (7 hemettick). [ad. Gr. ἐµετικ-ός provoking vomiting, f. ἐµέ-ειν to vomit.] A. adj. 1. Having power to produce vomiting. Also fig. sickening, mawkish.
