edenite Min.|ˈiːdənaɪt| [ad. G. edenit (E. F. Glocker Grundriss d. Min. (1839) 410), f. Edenville, Orange County, New York: see -ite1.] A light-coloured sodian variety of hornblende containing relatively little iron.

New York ii. vi. 302 About a mile north of Edenville is another locality, at which the crystals [of hornblende] are of a hair-brown or grey color, associated with..mica and chondrodite, in white limestone.
