† eˈclegme Med. Obs. Also 7 eclegm, eclegmat. [a. (directly or through Fr. eclègme) med.L. eclegma (gen. eclegmat-is) for ecligma, a. Gr. ἔκλειγµα, f. ἐκλείχειν to lick out.] ‘Old term for a linctus, or form of medicine of a semifluid consistence, which is licked off the spoon’ (Syd. Soc. Lex.).
