synanthesis Bot.|sɪnænˈθiːsɪs| [f. syn-1 + anthesis.] Simultaneous ripening of the stamens and pistils in a flower; hence synanthetic |-ˈθɛtɪk| a., exhibiting synanthesis. So syˈnanthic a. [Gr. ἄνθος flower], characterized by synanthy; syˈnanthious a., of leaves, expanding at the same time as the flowers (cf. synanthous); synanthous |sɪˈnænθəs| a., (a) applied to plants whose leaves expand at the same time as the flowers; (b) = synanthic; synanthy |sɪˈnænθɪ|, abnormal union or fusion of two or more flowers.
