Eblaite, n. and a.|ˈɛbləaɪt, ˈiːbləaɪt| [f. Ebla, the ancient name of the city of Tell Mardikh in northern Syria + -ite1.] A. n. a. An ancient inhabitant of Ebla. b. A pre-Phoenician Semitic language examples of which were first discovered by Paolo Matthiae (b. 1940), Italian archaeologist and scholar, at the site of Ebla in 1974. B. adj. Of or pertaining to these people or their language.
