† swenge, v. Obs. (Also pa. tense 3 sweinde, 3–5 swende.) [OE. swęngan:—*swaŋgwjan (as in Goth. afswaggwjan): cf. prec. and see swing. This vb. reappears later as swinge v.1, q.v.] 1. trans. To shake, shatter.
