actinomycin Biochem.|ˈæktɪnəʊˈmaɪsɪn| [f. actino- + Gr. µύκης fungus + -in1.] An antibiotic substance of the actinomycetes group originally isolated by S. A. Waksman and H. B. Woodruff from certain micro-organisms found in soil.
