‖ Dobos Torte|ˈdɒbɒʃ ˈtɔːtə| Also with small initials; Dobos Torta, Dubosch Torte. Pl. Dobos Torten. [G. dobostorte, f. the name of József C. Dobos (1847–1924), Hungarian pastry chef, who first displayed the cake at an exhibition in 1885 + torte torte 2 a, tart; cf. Hungarian dobostorta (1896).] A rich cake made of alternate layers of sponge and chocolate or mocha cream, with a crisp caramel topping.
