Dixiecrat U.S. colloq.|ˈdɪksɪkræt| [f. Dixie2 + democrat 2.] A member of a group of southern United States Democrats who seceded from the Democratic Party in 1948 because they opposed its policy of extending civil rights; a States' Rights Democrat.
