sulphonylurea Pharm.|ˌsʌlfənaɪljʊəˈriːə| Also (U.S.) sulf-. [f. sulphonyl + urea.] Any of the group of hypoglycæmic drugs containing the active grouping {b1}SO2·NH·CO·NH{b1}, which are used orally in the treatment of diabetes.
