Prince Charming [Partial tr. F. Roi Charmant, the name of the hero of the Comtesse d'Aulnoy's L'Oiseau Bleu (1697). In English the name first appears as that of the hero of Planché's King Charming or Prince Charming, and was later adopted for the hero of various fairy-tale pantomimes, esp. the Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella.] A fairy-tale hero; the lover every girl dreams of; a perfect young man.
