Stylophone, n.|ˈstaɪləfəʊn| Also s-. [f. stylo- + -phone 1, after xylophone.] A hand-held, battery-operated musical instrument which is played by drawing an attached ‘stylus’ along a keyboard of metal touchplates, and produces a distinctive buzzing tone. Formerly a proprietary name in the U.K.; a proprietary name in the U.S.
