dirndl|ˈdɜːnd(ə)l| [G. dial., dim. of dirne girl; cf. G. dirndlkleid peasant dress.] A style of woman's dress imitating Alpine peasant costume with bodice and full skirt; also dirndl skirt, a full skirt with a tight waistband.
