Studite|ˈstjuːdaɪt| [ad. med.L. Studīta (Eccl. Gr. στουδίτης), f. Studi-um (Eccl. Gr. στουδιόν), said to be named from its founder Studius (στουδιός): see -ite.] A monk of the order of Acœmeti (‘the sleepless’) established in the 5th cent. at the monastery of the Studium at Constantinople.
