dichogamous, a. Bot.|daɪˈkɒgəməs| [mod. f. Gr. type *διχόγαµος (f. διχο-, dicho-, asunder, separately + -γαµος wedded, married, γάµ-ος wedding) + -ous.] Said of those hermaphrodite plants in which the stamens and pistils (or analogous organs) become mature at different times, so that self-fertilization is impossible.
