dichlor-, dichloro- Chem. [f. di-2 + chloro-.] A formative element in names of compounds formed by the substitution of two atoms of chlorine for hydrogen atoms, as dichloraˈcetic acid, dichlorˈhydrin: see chlor- and chloro-; ˌdichlorodiˌfluoro-ˈmethane, a colourless, easily liquefied gas, CCl2F2, used as a refrigerant and as a propellant in aerosols, etc.
