▪ I. † aˈcharne, v. Obs. rare. [a. Fr. acharne-r to flesh, bait; refl. s'acharner to thirst for blood, become cruel:—late L. *adcarnā-re f. ad to + carn-em flesh.] To become greedy of flesh, to thirst for blood.
