‖ Streptocarpus|strɛptəʊˈkɑːpəs| Also Anglicized ˈstreptocarp. [mod.L., f. Gr. στρεπτός (see strepto-) + καρπός fruit.] A genus of African Gesneraceous plants bearing pistils or fruits spirally-twisted towards the point; a plant of this genus, esp. the Cape Primrose (see primrose 2 b).
