STP orig. U.S.|ɛs tiː piː| Also S.T.P. [Prob. f. the initial letters of Scientifically Treated Petroleum, the commercial name of a motor-oil additive which was being extensively advertised when the drug first appeared.] A synthetic hallucinogenic drug chemically related to amphetamine but having effects similar to those of LSD; 2,5-dimethoxy-4-methylamphetamine.
